Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd (IFFCO) is planning to expand the manufacturing facility at Paradeep to 30 lakh tonnes a year. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 5000 million. The Paradeep plant had been acquired from Abhey Oswal Group and has a current capacity of 19.20 lakh tonnes of di-ammonum phospate(DAP). IFFCO plans to redesign the plant which was built with Jacob Engineering (US) technology which was not suitable for saline environment. It will replace steel structure with concrete pipes as in its Kandla plant, which was built with Hindustan-Dorr Oliver technology. It may be noted, Paradeep plant is the world largest phosphoric acid plant.
