Talcher Urea unit to be revive by a consortium

Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers unit is planning to revive the Talcher fertilizer unit along with GAIL, Coal India Ltd and Fertilizer Corp of India Ltd. The project will entail an investment of Rs. 80000 million. The involved companies have signed MoU regarding their participation. The project involves coal gassification, coal washery and urea-cum-ammonia nitrate complex unit. The Board for Industrial & Financial Reconstruction(BIFR) has delinked FCIL. Besides the government has waived the loan amount of Rs. 10644 million along with interest. It may be noted, the Talcher unit was closed down in 2002.

IFFCO plans expansion of Paradeep plant

Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd (IFFCO) is planning to expand the manufacturing facility at Paradeep to 30 lakh tonnes a year. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 5000 million. The Paradeep plant had been acquired from Abhey Oswal Group and has a current capacity of 19.20 lakh tonnes of di-ammonum phospate(DAP). IFFCO plans to redesign the plant which was built with Jacob Engineering (US) technology which was not suitable for saline environment. It will replace steel structure with concrete pipes as in its Kandla plant, which was built with Hindustan-Dorr Oliver technology. It may be noted, Paradeep plant is the world largest phosphoric acid plant.
