Tata Chemicals plans to expand Urla Fertilizer plant

Tata Chemicals plans to expand Urla Fertilizer plant at Babrala in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh with an investment of Rs. 44382 million. The project involves expanding production capacity up ammonia plant to 2200 mtpd, urea plant to 3896.6 mtpd and CDR unit to 350 mtpd. The ammonia plant will be of single stream and will use natural gas.The Urea plant will be laid out in single stream having capacity of 3896.6 MTPD (2922 MTPD Prilled & 974.6 MTPD Granulated) urea plant with stripping process technology. High-pressure steam imported from the Ammonia Plant will be used to drive the CO2 Compressor with extraction arrangement for meeting the process requirements. As of july 2009, the project is yet to get statutory clearances.
