Zuari Industries to set up 1.3 million tpa urea plant in Belgaum

Zuari Industries is planning to set up a urea plant at Belgaum in Karnataka with a capacity of 1.3 million tpa. It will use natural gas to produce urea and will entail an investment of Rs. 50,000 million. Natural gas will be transported by GAIL's Dabhol-Bangalore pipeline. Currently, the pipeline is under construction and is likely to be completed by 2012. The company is in the process of land acquisition and applied for requisite clearances.

FACT launches two value added fertilizers

Fertilizer and Chemicals Travancore Ltd (FACT) is adding zinc to its popular fertilizer Factomfos. After effective research, the company felt the need for a single fertilizer that provides essential macro and micro nutrients of plants. Evidently, Zinc is added to Factomfos its complex fertilizer. It also launched zincated gypsum, a soil conditioner and fertilizer for crops. Normally, zinc is added to alkaline soil in India, where most part of country is zinc deficient, now research finds zinc in acidic soil is also effective for crops like plaintain, rubber and paddy in Kerala. Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers to set up speciality fertilizer business

Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers, a UB Group company is planning to set up speciality fertilizer business unit in the next two years. Currently, it has around 50 new generation fertilizer products. It has also set up a research and development centre at Hassan, around 180 kms from Bangalore. With use of speciality fertilizer, a farmer can get around 12 to 15% extra output than conventional fertilizers. MCF is also importing some of the essential nutrients through its integrated nutrient management division. It is focussing on markets in southern India but, plans to focus on Maharashtra as well.

FACT plans 500000 tonne capacity urea plant

Fertilizer and Chemicals Travancore Ltd(FACT) is planning to set up a urea plant with an investment of Rs.6500 million. The plant will have a capacity of 500,000 tpa and is likely to be completed by two years. FACT will put up 20% of the project cost while the rest will be raised from financial instituitions. The company's board has given 'in-prinicple' clearance and a feasibility report will be conducted. The company has recently launched 'Zincated Factamfos' and 'Zincated Gypsum'.
